Our history and our work helping women and children in need.
Driven by our faith in God and a strong desire to support underprivileged children, in 1988 we began working as a group of students, single mothers, friends and neighbors. Through the years we expanded our support in times and places where we least expect it.
For more than 20 years, in alliance with our local communities, we have been sponsoring children with social services, education, food, clothing and medical programs.
Our professional services included working with Amnesty International in the protection of human rights, representing children and women victims of domestic violence, and helping children and women displaced from war zones amongst other.
Today as successful immigrants, we are thankful and value the support we received from the American society. As we were welcomed once, we want to give back by welcoming and supporting children and women including new arrivers to the Land of the Free, Home of the brave.
Guided by the principles of human compassion and dignity, to deliver more, and in more effective ways, in 2022 we decided to incorporate as OCAAT – One Child At A Time.
Our goal is to assist underprivileged children and women to become healthy, independent, contributing members of our community. OCAAT welcomes refugees, immigrants, and supports them in integrating and thriving in their new communities.
Based on our own experiences we understand the struggles that any immigrant or a refugee child in a foreign land has to go through. We know the needs and support that immigrant and refugee children will need to succeed.
OCAAT team is committed to support underprivileged children, and provide them with the information and tools they need to achieve personal goals, access to opportunities, and thrive.
OCAAT is led by a volunteer Board of Directors and staffed mainly with local volunteers.
